Dear users,
A maintenance notice as of September, 2014.
[Maintenance]
Date: September 1, 2014 (Mon) 9:00 -- 21:00
ADC analysis system is unavailable due to the periodic maintenance.
Open-use PCs and plotters are partially available during the maintenance.
[System Correction/Improvement, Software Install/Update]
Correction/Improvement and Install/Update to All analysis servers
and terminal WS, unless otherwise stated.
(Correction/Improvement)
- NFS file system
We will change a setting of NFS client for I/O performance improvement.
- Change "rsize"and "wsize" parameter: 32KB -> 1MB (RHEL6 default)
- Configuration files
We will correction the models of configuration files
(/data/system/skel_org/local*)
- Setting Intel MKL library path
Add to "/opt/intel/bin/compilervars.[sh,csh] intel64"
- Setting alias for Miriad
Please refer to the following "Miriad install" for the details.
- Correction of library
"liblapack.so" is conflicted on the analysis system. We are sorry for
the inconvenience. We will correct as follows.
- For 64 bit library
Delete: /usr/lib64/liblapack.so
Remaine: "/usr/lib64/atlas-sse3/liblapack.so
(Install/Update)
- CASA database update
- VEDA update (bug fix)
- Miriad 4.3.8 install

- SExtractor (2.8.6 -> 2.19.5) update (*1)
- SWarp (2.19.1 -> 2.38.0) update (*1)
・SCamp (1.7.0 -> 2.0.4) + CDSclient (3.71 -> 3.76) update (*1)
- 1 SExtractor, Swarp and Scamp are only performed single-thread
processing in order to avoid the occupancy of computer resource.

[Periodic data deletion]
The periodic data deletion in the local and the NFS disk area is
executed during a monthly maintenance.
We strongly recommend that you make backups of any important data.
(Delete target files)
/wam* : 4 weeks passed (on "ctime")
/wah* : 2 weeks passed (on "ctime")
/mfst*: 6 months passed (on "ctime")
- Please note that the periodic data deletion of /mfst* partitions is
executed during monthly maintenance, hereafter.

- About use of computer resources
We are checking whether or not users are hogging computer resources
(CPU core, memory etc.) for a long time.
The prolonged occupation of computer resources may cause a disturbance
to other users' work, mostly due to concurrent heavy processing on
servers.
To avoid the above situation we will provide a warning to users.
In addition, please consider using a batch processing system and check
the current status of the server to avoid causing server over-use.
We will warn users exceeding restrictions on the quantity of the disk
space used.

[Future plans]
- NFS file system improvements (on-going)
We try to improve the performance of the NFS file system (/mfst*
partitions) continuously. Please contact us when you feel something is
wrong with the NFS file system.
- We will set up the network access control to the wired DHCP in the
open-use rooms.

多波長データ解析システム ユーザの皆様
2014年9月度の定期メンテナンス関連事項を連絡をいたします。
[メンテナンス]

サーバ・ワークステーション 停止 (定期メンテナンス)
ユーザの方々にはご迷惑をおかけしますが、宜しくお願いいたします。
共同利用PC と大判プリンタの一部は、メンテナンス中も利用可能です。
[システム修正／改善、ソフトウェア インストール／アップデート]
※特に記載が無い限り、全ての対話型／バッチ解析サーバ・端末WSが対象です。
（修正／改善）
・NFS ディスク領域
NFS ファイルシステムの I/O 性能改善のため、NFS クライアント側の
設定を一部修正します。
- rsize, wsize を 32KB から 1MB (RHEL6 デフォルト値）に変更
・環境設定ファイル (/data/system/skel_org/local*) の修正
以下のように、環境設定ファイルを修正いたします。
- Intel MKL ライブラリパスの設定
"/opt/intel/bin/compilervars.[sh,csh] intel64" の追加
- Miriad 関係の alias 等の設定
詳しくは、下記の Miriad 使用方法を参照ください。
・ライブラリの整理
liblapack.so が競合しており、不具合が発生する場合がありました。
混乱等を招いてしまい、申し訳ありませんでした。
以下のように整理する予定です。
（64bit 版ライブラリ）
「/usr/lib64/liblapack.so を削除し、
/usr/lib64/atlas-sse3/liblapack.so のみとする」
（インストール／アップデート）
・CASA データベースの更新
・VEDA アップデート（バグフィックス等）
・Miriad 4.3.8 インストール

毎月のメンテナンス時に、解析サーバ群のローカルディスクおよび、
NFS ディスク領域の定期データ削除を実施します。
重要なファイルはバックアップを取ることを強く推奨いたします。
（削除対象ファイル）
/wam* : 4 週間経過 (ctime で判別)
/wah* : 2 週間経過 (ctime で判別)
/mfst*: 6 か月経過 (ctime で判別)
※今後は /mfst* 領域も毎月のメンテナンスで定期削除を実行します。

・計算機リソースの使用について
対話型解析サーバ (anam*, anah*) において、少数のユーザで多くの CPU,
メモリ等の計算機リソースを長時間占有する事例が確認されております。
そのような状況は、他ユーザの作業に影響を及ぼしたり、処理集中による
サーバ等への不具合の原因になりますので、当該ユーザに対して注意／警告
等を出す場合があります。また、そのような事態を避けるために、バッチ
システムの利用や、リソース使用状況の確認をお願いいたします。
なお、ディスク使用量上限を超えたユーザに対しても、注意／警告を出して
いきますので、ご注意ください。
